Quercus Palustris

Elegant yet robust, the Pink Oak is known for its graceful form and striking seasonal shifts. Its Latin name tells its story: quercus for oak, and palustris, meaning “of the marsh,” alluding to its natural affinity for low-lying, damp soils.
Native to eastern and central North America, this deciduous oak is favoured in gardens and avenues for its distinctive architecture—upper branches reaching skyward, middle ones held outward, and lower limbs gently weeping toward the ground. In autumn, its deeply lobed leaves take on rich tones of red and bronze, often clinging to the branches into early winter.
Though not prized for its timber, the Pin Oak offers resilience, thriving in compacted soils and urban conditions. It remains a steadfast favourite where seasonal colour and sculptural form are desired.
